What happens if HoldCart goes down?
Your checkout keeps working. HoldCart is fail-open by design — our servers are never in the checkout path, and the reservation check allows the sale on any doubt. Protection degrades; sales never stop.
Is there anything I should do before I uninstall?
Yes — one important thing. To hold inventory, HoldCart sets protected products to keep selling past zero stock. Before uninstalling, click Settings → "Disable protection on all products" to revert everything in one click. Then it's safe to remove.
Does it work with point of sale or other channels?
Reservations are enforced at online-store checkout. HoldCart isn't aware of point-of-sale or other channels, so the same stock sold in person isn't reserved. For online one-of-a-kind items this is rarely an issue — but it's worth knowing.
Will it slow my store or block real customers?
No. The check runs inside Shopify's checkout reading a small snapshot — your shoppers never wait on our servers. A holder always passes; only a different shopper trying to take an already-reserved unit is asked to wait.
Does it work with subscriptions?
Subscription and selling-plan products are excluded from protection — they follow their own checkout flow. Regular products are unaffected.
